What Makes Voyant Legal Different from Other Local Law Firms?
We saw that the traditional approach to legal planning, such as estate planning and business planning, was broken. In our effort to fix that broken system for our clients, we developed a unique relationship based strategy for helping clients prepare their planning documents. We believe legal documents should be dynamic, changing alongside your constantly evolving life or business.
The primary difference in our approach is our billing methods. We rarely bill hourly for our time or services. Rather, we will provide you with upfront flat rates for the estate planning or other services that will be rendered. We welcome clients to call us back with questions and clarification, as we know you may go home from your initial legacy planning session and slowly have new questions arise that were not initially addressed.

How do you bill for your legal services?
Our billing method is one of the major ways we differ from most traditional law firms. First and foremost, we rarely bill you hourly for our time. At Voyant Legal, we believe that the hourly billing model creates a relationship of distrust. Client’s hesitate to consult their lawyers, fearing the huge bill they may receive for a 15 minute phone call. We feel that there is a better way to run an estate planning law firm.
We bill with an upfront flat fee. We will meet with you for an initial consultation. We will review your personal situation, recommend a plan of action, and present you with some package options. These packages come with a flat rate fee, disclosed up front, for the estate planning or other services that will be rendered. You then get to select the level of legal services (package) that you believe best suits your needs, and we will proceed to prepare the needed documents.
What kind of cases does Voyant Legal handle?
Voyant Legal specializes in legal planning documentation. We help our clients plan for the future of their businesses, their estate, their children and dependents, and their parents or other elders. As experienced estate planning lawyers, we have hundreds if not thousands of hours working with all things estate including probate, asset protection, child protection, and advance tax planning (estate tax or death tax). We help with Probate, Guardianship/Conservatorship, Power of Attorney, and much more. Please select the “Legal Practices” tab above to learn more.
What should I bring to my initial consultation?
We want to make the most of our time with our clients, so before your initial consultation, you will receive an estate planning packet (or business, benefits, etc.) for you to complete in full. Please consider the questions thoughtfully, and take time to review the materials carefully. We want your experience with us to be a great one, so we have carefully curated this information to benefit our clients. Enclosed in the packet will be instructions concerning any important documents that you should bring. Please keep in mind that your information is protected by Attorney/Client confidentiality and we will keep all information secure

Our estate planning (or legacy planning) process begins with an initial consultation, but before we meet in person, we ask you to read and complete a set of basic documents we call a legacy planning packet. Inside this carefully curated packet is helpful information designed to make the most of our time together. Please review this material carefully and bring any items requested by the packet to your initial consultation.
At your initial legacy planning session, we will review your packet and together determine the best plan of action for your unique situation. Many estate plans are nothing more than word-processing, and many estate plans ultimately fall short. We tailor a specific package to your needs to ensure that your plan will work for you now and in the years to come.
Your personal lawyer at Voyant Legal will take the time to get to know you, your family, your concerns, goals, and issues. Only then will we answer all your questions and together, we produce an estate plan that is exactly right for you. We come back to review the plan on an ongoing basis (around every three years) to ensure that the plan is up-to-date and will function as it is intended.
What is your typical Business Planning Process?
Our business planning process begins with an initial consultation, but before we meet in person, we ask you to read and complete a set of basic documents we call a business planning packet. Inside this carefully curated packet is helpful information designed to make the most of our time together. Please review this material carefully and bring any items requested by the packet to your initial consultation.
At your initial business planning session, we will review your packet and together determine the best plan of action for your unique situation. Voyant Legal offers many business related legal services, including LLC creation, entity formation and planning, and review of your business contracts and agreements. Your relationship with your business planning lawyer should not end when your incorporation documents are signed. As your business changes, and the laws that govern your business change, your legal documents and business plan should be reviewed.
Business planning will also include succession planning for your business. Often overlooked, but incredibly important, succession planning can prevent the major problems that can impact the future of your company and often your family if there is a sudden need for the business to change hands.
How do I know if I need a Child Protection Plan?
Around 69% of parents with young children (anyone under the age of 18) do not have proper legal guardianship documents for their children. If tragedy were to strike these families, there are many unpleasant realities that may ensue. For example, child protective services (CPS) may be placed in charge of the children, a judge may decide who has legal guardianship, and up to 3% of the assets could be lost in probate.
If you have young children, your estate plan should begin with a foundation that ensures your children and beneficiaries will always be taken care of and protected, no matter what happens to you. At Voyant Legal, one of our greatest areas of expertise is protecting minor children through the creation of a legal child protection plan.
What is involved in Elder Law?
This is a loaded question, but it can be narrowed down to a few areas: Guardianship, Conservatorship, Long Term Care planning, Asset protection and more. We can help to ensure proper documentation is in place in order to apply for and qualify for government assistance, including VA benefits. We can help with Power of Attorney and Healthcare Directives to assist the Elderly in the event they become incapacitated.
How much do your Services Cost?
Where each situation is unique, we are not able to determine exactly how much your planning will cost. This is why we provide an initial consultation free of charge, where we can assess your needs and narrow down a cost to cover your planning. We want you to feel comfortable that you are receiving the value you were seeking.
What if I need Legal Advice?
We get calls from people who find themselves with legal issues and would benefit from some legal guidance, all the time. Where our “Free Consultation” covers the basics of Estate Planning, it doesn’t cover specific needs some of our client’s bring to us. The best thing is to call into the Firm and we’ll asses your needs and schedule a time to consult your specific needs and what steps you should take. If it makes sense to engage us to assist you further, we can discuss a retainer for our services and put together an agreement that works for everyone.
